Gone but Not Forgotten

These dog have truly touched our lives and their memories continue to live on. Without these wonderful companions, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Bluemer's Besondere Blume, CDX, Can. CD "Heidi"
July 21, 1987 - February 7, 1999

Heidi was the start of things for Blumehaus Rottweilers. Acquired as a two-month old puppy, she was a wonderful ambassador for the breed. Her loving nature; wonderful temperament; and overall positive attitude about everything allowed us to want more of this gentle, loving breed in our home. Heidi also got us interested in showing. While a championship was not in her cards, she produced champion offspring who exhibited the same wonderful temperament as she did. Heidi was a joy to have around the house and was always the top dog. When one of the other dogs got out of hand, Heidi would give them "the look" as if to say, "What are you guys thinking? Mom is going to be so mad at you!" When children entered our household (she was there first), she accepted them with the same loving nature she showed throughout her life.

Am/Can. Ch. Amberhaus Erris Von Ara, Am/Can. CD "Erris"
November 19, 1989 - March 21, 2001

Erris was the first "official" show dog at Blumehaus. Acquired from Walter & Esther Putirskis, in Illinois, we couldnÕt have asked for a better dog. He was a joy to live with and show. Erris' motto for the show ring was the hotter the better. As a young puppy (7 1/2 months old) he won the ARC Supported Sweepstakes in Livingston, Michigan with the heat at 95 degrees and the humidity just as high. To top things off, he went on to win Winners Dog for a 4 pt major the same day. What a great way to start a show career! Erris was used a very limited time at stud, but the puppies he sired, exhibited the same wonderful, loving attitude as he displayed. If youÕre going to start with a show dog, he was definitely the dogs to start with.

Ch. Blumehaus Boss's Apollo, CD "Apollo"
September 23, 1990 - December 27, 2000

Apollo was out of Heidi's first litter sired by Ch. Boss of Hale's Hollow, CD. Apollo was Merri's constant companion and wanted to be by her side always. Apollo loved to please and would do anything asked of him, even if he questioned Merri's sanity at the time. A show dog, Apollo was asked one time to assist in a demonstration of how to do everything WRONG in the show ring. He was gaited on the wrong side; asked to "back up" down the mat; and lay down in the ring when the "judge" went to examine him just to name a few of the tricks for that demonstration. After completing the wrong way, he had to immediately go back in and do everything correctly. With his true wanting to please nature, he did everything perfectly. Apollo also was used in obedience demonstrations at local elementary school. What a better ambassador to show a Rottweiler interacting with all these local school kids. He loved the attention. His favorite trick at the demonstration was to be in a sit stay while Merri pulled, with all her might, on the leash. Apollo would never budge as he had been told to stay. The oohs and aahs from the kids watching him were his reward (along with much praise from Merri). Unfortunately, Apollo had hip dysplasia and eventually developed bone cancer in his hip and had to be put to sleep. What a gentle giant he was. We miss you Pollywog!

Am/Can. Ch. Blumehaus Blissfully Sweet, CD "Bliss"
March 8, 1992 - August 8, 2004

Bliss was a Heidi and Erris daughter who, like her parents, had the most wonderful personality. After Heidi's death, it was Bliss who took over being in charge, but she ruled from afar as her mother had done. Bliss loved being around the children and thought there was nothing better in life than lying on the couch surrounded by "her kids" and getting lots of love. While she did compete in the show ring, having a litter was not in her cards.

Am/Can/UKC Ch. Critter's She's the One "Haylea"
January 17, 1994 - December 5, 2006

Haylea was the first Clumber to grace our home. She was acquired from Walter and Janice Friis of Critter Clumber Spaniels in April of 1994. Haylea was a joy to have around and taught us that Clumbers truly are a stubborn breed with a mind of their own. She finished her AKC championship at the age of 13 months at the prestigious Detroit Kennel Club show. Her first litter of puppies produced three offspring, all of whom went on to complete their championships. At the 1997 CSCA National Specialty, Haylea earned an Award of Merit with her daughter, Locksley CritterÕs Tintagel, being awarded Best of Winners. Haylea also won the Brood Bitch class at the same national. Haylea's outlook on life was always pleasant and happy. To the end her tail never stopped wagging. We miss you Haylea-Monster. Rest comfortably.

Am/Can/UKC Ch. Locksley Carisbrooke "Lochett"
June 22, 1996 - December 5, 2006

Lochett was out of that first successful litter of Haylea's. Lochett had a great outlook on life and was a true Clumber. In true Clumber spirit, she was stubborn to the end. Lochett had an extremely successful show career and was an absolute joy to have in the ring. Her attitude was just incredible and she liked having all those people look at her. Sadly, she only produced two litters, both times with only two puppies (she must have liked the number two!) She did, however, pass on her wonderful attributes to her offspring. As her health began to fail, we made the very difficult decision to put her sleep on the same day as her mother. They were together until the end. Lochett, we miss you something fierce.
